The American Academy of Environmental Medicine (AAEM) urges doctors to prescribe non-GMO diets for all patients.  Numerous health problems increased after GMOs were introduced in 1996.  Food allergies skyrocketed and disorders such as autism, reproductive disorders, digestive problems and others are on the rise.  Although there is not sufficient research to confirm that GMOs are a contributing factor YET, doctors’ groups such as the AAEM advise not to wait before we start protecting ourselves and especially our children who are most at risk.

GMOs are plant or meat products that have had their DNA altered in a laboratory by genes from other plants, animals, viruses or bacteria.

Do you have a body part you wish you could change?  More than one?  The parts I dislike the most are my legs; the excess skin at the top from my 250 lb. weight loss and the swellings around my ankles.  This  swelling is even more exaggerated when I am not eating pure since most processed foods contain huge amounts of sodium.

The photo below on the left is a picture of my legs about 2 weeks ago when I was at the peak of my emotional eating.  The photo on the right was taken immediately following my Purium 10 day Transformation Cleanse.  Not only did I lose 31.2 lbs., I lost 3 inches from my calves and 2 inches from my ankles!  Can you see the drastic difference in only 10 days?!

I woke up this morning stressing about having to weigh myself and post the results for everyone in the world to see.  As you know if you followed my daily blogs, I was experiencing evidence of weight loss like better-fitting clothes, increased energy and shrinking boobs, but I didn’t really feel lighter.

Today is the final day of my 10 Day Transformation cleanse with the new product I discovered.  Tomorrow morning I will weigh-in and take my measurements.  I hope to have achieved the “side effect” of 5 to 20 lbs. of weight loss, but I have experienced so many other benefits, I am happy no matter what the scale says.

I have been taking raw food “uncooking” classes and I am working on my designation as a Raw Food Nutritionist so it makes sense that I will incorporate as much raw food as possible into my eating program in the coming months.  

You do not need to eat 100% raw to derive the major benefits of this lifestyle.  And no, eating raw does not mean eating salad all day every day.  Just today I learned how to make raw Pad Thai and raw Key Lime Pie.  It looked and tasted amazing!

Only 2 days left in my transformation cleanse.  I should be reading about the next step in this process.  I should be shopping for all the foods I will begin reintroducing to my diet.  I should be.  So why am I sitting in front of the computer doing nothing?

Do you ever let fear of the unknown stop you from taking that first step?  

I am excited about finishing the cleanse and getting into a more normal eating routine, but a bit fearful at the same time because I don’t know what to expect.

A very wise mentor of mine told me that it takes a lot of work to move forward, but no effort to go back.  It is like being on a slippery slope; if you do nothing, you will slide back where you started.

Well, going back to where I started is NOT an option!  So it’s time to do something.

When you lose weight what is the first physical change you become aware of?  

For many women it is the breasts that go first.  This is alarming to some women because they equate size with sexual attractiveness.

Today on day 7 of my 10 day transformation, I have more proof my new program is working,,, my bra is fitting better.

It varies greatly depending on the woman and her genetics, but breasts can be comprised of 56% or more fat.  Is it any wonder they shrink when you are losing fat?

I couldn’t find any information on who coined the phrase, but I truly believe that “more than a mouthful is a waste”.

I also believe that any sign you are removing excess fat from your body should be welcomed!  Would you rather be heavy with large breasts or fit with smaller breasts?

Have you ever felt like you just didn’t fit in? 

I was invited to a dinner party, but I declined because I knew I would still be on my 10 day transformation cleanse.  Then, because I was very excited to see the other guests, I asked if I could come after dinner for a visit and that was fine with the host.

Tonight I arrived at the party a little after the designated time only to find that dinner had started late and everyone was still eating.  It smelled and looked delicious!  I was immediately offered a seat at the table and some food.  I declined and sat down where I could see and hear everyone, but I confess the thought “just a little wouldn’t hurt” did cross my mind for a second.

At first I felt like the proverbial square peg in the round hole.  Happilly, this feeling only lasted for a few minutes and once the conversation picked up, it completely disappeared.

Have you ever thought about how much social events revolve around food?  If I mention Christmas and birthday parties, what immediately pops into your mind?  I wouldn’t be surprised if ham, turkey or birthday cake were high on the list.

I am so glad I made the effort to attend that party tonight!  It was a wonderful evening filled with great conversation and connecting with people I love!

Here’s food for thought….  if you are declining social events to avoid the food, what else might you be missing out on?  Next time you receive an invitation and are thinking of declining, instead turn your thoughts to how you could attend and still keep to your healthy eating program.

How great would it feel to connect on a deeper level with the people in your life while still eating healthy?  You CAN do this!

Today I went furniture shopping on my own for the first time as a single woman.  My husband (the master negotiator) used to do all the dickering on prices and I would try to look anywhere else but at the salesman.  If it had been left up to me, I would have paid full price plus taxes and shipping; anything to get out of there.

Today I was shopping for a piece of furniture and when the salesman and I went to write up the order, I sucked up my courage and asked if that was the best he could do.  Much to my surprise, I got a reduced price by asking that simple question.

There are many changes in my life that factored into my ability to ask that question today, but the biggest one, in my opinion, is my increased confidence.  Only halfway into my 10 day transformation, I already feel like a different person.  I know I am losing weight because my clothes fit better.  And with my cravings gone, I feel completely in control, in charge and able to do anything!

What might you do differently if you too grew “a pair”?  Think about all the changes you would experience if you became more self-confident.

It makes sense that when people develop a product, they want to try and appeal to as many people as possible, but you and I both know it is not possible to please everyone.

Assume you like spicy food.  Now imagine you are making a meal for a large group of people.  Would you make the dish really spicy to please yourself or would you make it milder and serve extra spice on the side for those that like it hotter?

On my 10 day transformation, I was finding the various drinks/smoothies tasted a bit bland or watery since I love spice and lots of flavour.  

In the past, I would have followed the program to the letter even if I didn’t like the taste, believing that any slight change might hurt my results.  Today I realized that I will not last on any program if I’m not truly enjoying what I eat and drink.

So I made some minor adjustments.  I didn’t change the recipe for the drinks, just the way the ingredients were combined,  For example, if a smoothie called for 18 oz. of water and two scoops of shake mix, I tried mixing the shake in 12 oz. of water and drinking the remaining 6 oz. of water on the side.  That tasted so much better to me and I still got all the required nutrients.
